Registration of Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies
In an effort to self-regulate the consumer credit counseling industry, Chase Bank, MBNA, and Household Finance, the three major credit
card banks in America, established a requirement that Consumer Credit Counseling Companies obtain accreditation if they were to be
eligible for distribution of Fair Share monies.
The Association of Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies (AICCCA) developed a Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies Code of
Practice to supplement ISO 9001 standard requirements establishing a new Sector Scheme. After review, the major lenders approved ISO
9000 registration as one of the two options of quality management system accreditation.
Registration to ISO 9000 enables credit counseling agencies to be eligible for full payment of Fair Share monies earned. Those
agencies that do not become registered to ISO 9000 or the other approved quality management system may lose their Fair Share
monies.
We are working hand-in-hand with the credit card banks and the consumer credit counseling industry. We understand the needs of the
